Mir Gaming vs. ONSIDE GAMING

Lijiang Tower

(Selected by ONSIDE)

Bans: Pharah (Mir), D.Va (ONSIDE)

On Control Center, Mir gaming roll out on Zarya, Tracer, Reaper, Wuyang and Kiriko, while ONSIDE play the more common Wrecking Ball, Tracer, Genji, Wuyang and Kiriko. After losing the first fight, An "OPENER" Gi-beom swaps to his comfort pick of Lucio for the rest of the game. The DPS of ONSIDE struggle to connect with Kim "Kellan" Min-jae on the Wrecking Ball, finding themselves picked off in the pre-fight on multiple occasions. With no answer to the Graviton Surge and trades being found for any kills ONSIDE do get, Mir secures the upset on Control Centre.

However, both Garden and Night Market are much more favourable maps for the Wrecking Ball, and the DPS of ONSIDE come to life. Despite Kim “RULER” Yi-gun swapping to Roadhog to try and weather the storm, Mir really struggled to handle the pressure of the Genji-Tracer-Ball dives, and conceded the next two points 100-0.

Score: 2-1 ONSIDE Gaming

Rialto

(Selected by Mir Gaming)

Bans: Kiriko (Mir), Hazard (ONSIDE)

Substitutions:

ONSIDE - OUT Kellan, Ado. IN Attack, Kilo

Mir Gaming - OUT K4ne, IN Flos

Kim "Attack" Jun-hwa starts on his signature D.Va, and Jung "Kilo" Jin-woo fills the hard hitscan role that is standard for the long sight lines of this map. Kwak “Flos” Min-seo is subbed in for Mir Gaming to play the hitscan role as well.

ONSIDE are playing D.Va, Ana, Brigitte, Tracer and Widowmaker, while Mir tries to play Winston with Ana, Wuyang, Tracer and Hanzo. Unfortunately for Mir, the Winston fails to find value, often getting caught out, while Kilo has free rein of the battlefield on Widowmaker for most of the round. ONSIDE complete the full hold after the Nano Boost from Jang “Univ2r” Geon-ik is cancelled, and RULER's Primal Rage can only be used to stall the payload in overtime.

After a brief period of poke and setup from ONSIDE, they overwhelm Mir’s defence with a dive from KNIFE and Attack, pushing the payload the short distance to the end of the first point.

Score: 1-0 ONSIDE Gaming

Aatlis

(Selected by Mir Gaming)

Bans: Lucio (Mir), Junker Queen (ONSIDE)

Kellan and Chon "Ado" Gi-hyeon are back in, once again to play the Wrecking Ball and double flex dive, a strategy that is extremely suited to this map. Both teams are playing Genji, Tracer, Wuyang and Kiriko, but RULER opts to try and counter Kellan’s Wrecking Ball by playing Roadhog again.

The first point initially goes the way of Mir after RULER manages stay alive on the point and secure two fight-winning picks. Lee “MCD” Jeong-ho uses his Tidal Blast onto Choi “K4ne” Joo-hyeong to secure the fight, but the same combo comes back their way from Opener and Ado, allowing ONSIDE to retake the point. However, the survivability of the Roadhog allows Mir to win the war of attrition on first and take the point.

However, the rest of this map is mostly dominated by ONSIDE. The Wrecking Ball dives are textbook from Kellan, forcing multiple support cooldowns before almost every fight, allowing Ado and KNIFE to clean up the rest. Mir isn’t able to absorb or outmanoeuvre the dives, and can’t string two fight wins together. They lose the map 1-3.

Score: 3-1 ONSIDE

FINAL SCORE: Mir Gaming 0-3 ONSIDE GAMING

ZETA DIVISION vs. Old Ocean

Lijiang Tower

(Selected by ZETA DIVISION)

Bans: Roadhog (ZETA) Kiriko (Old Ocean)

This map starts on Control Centre, with both teams playing a mirror of Wrecking Ball, Wuyang, Lucio, Genji and Tracer.

The class of ZETA’s DPS really shines through in this map, with them getting the better of their duels and exploiting the gap in skill between them and Old Ocean’s DPS. Ryu “Ryujehong” Je-hong struggles to stay alive, and his Sound Barrier comes online too late to impact the first ultimate exchange. ZETA keeps all of the momentum, and despite signs of life from Jeong “KIVIS” Yeon-woo on Wuyang, Old Ocean can’t keep up with the chaos of a Wrecking Ball mirror.

On Night Market, the struggles of Old Ocean’s backline continue. Their cooldowns are forced by the constant pressure of Mag, Kim "AlphaYi" Jun and Oh "Pelican" Se-hyun, and their ultimates simply don't the necessary value to win fights. Old Ocean do find two picks to open up the penultimate fight, but can’t follow up quickly enough, and ZETA are able to stabilise and win what should’ve been a 5v3. ZETA took the map in a convincing 2-0 fashion.

Score: 2-0 ZETA Division

Suravasa

(Selected by Old Ocean)

Bans: Zarya (ZETA), Genji (Old Ocean)

Old Ocean roll out on Wrecking Ball, Kiriko, Lucio, Tracer and Venture. ZETA chose to play Sombra instead of Venture and Wuyang instead of Lucio, but mirrored the rest of the comp. Pelican is one step ahead of Cho “Heiser” Yu-hyun, hacking the mega health pack underneath the point, and subsequently hacking Heiser, leading to his demise. ZETA take the point first and press their advantage, shutting out Old Ocean and preventing a retake.

Heiser swaps to Winston, hoping to fare better against the Sombra, but Pelican makes the switch to Reaper to keep things difficult for the Old Ocean tank. Heiser struggles to survive, as he seems out of sync with his backline, taking too much damage and dying early in multiple fights. ZETA take a commanding lead, and even when Old Ocean secured early picks towards the end of the map, the rock-solid DPS line of ZETA were able to pull through and turn the fight.

Score: 3-0 ZETA Division

Hollywood

(Selected by Old Ocean)

Bans: Zarya (ZETA) D.Va (Old Ocean)

Old Ocean attack first, and pick Hazard, Tracer, Sojourn, Wuyang and Kiriko. ZETA are on the same composition, but with Pelican on Genji instead of playing a hitscan.

This map starts positively for Old Ocean. Their DPS are able to access the ZETA DIVISION backline and find the opening picks, and make space for Jeon “Gur3um” Yong-min to put in work on Hazard. This fight for first point lasts a long time, with Shin "BERNAR" Se-won clutching from a disadvantaged position. He found several key kills over the course of this fight, and even invests the Downpour to try and hold onto the point, but the early advantage that Old Ocean created ended up being too much to overcome, and they are able to secure the capture.

Their initial push on second point starts well too, with Gur3um punishing some aggressive positioning from Bernar with a Downpour of his own. The early pick onto ZETA’s tank makes a lot of space for Old Ocean to push the payload towards the end of second point. However, ZETA are able to recontest, with Ryujehong losing his Tidal Blast at a crucial moment, the ultimate economy spirals out of control for Old Ocean. ZETA keep exerting suffocating pressure from the high ground, as well as the side fights, and Old Ocean struggle to make their way back to the payload without getting picked off. The round ends with domination from ZETA, and they only need to push the payload close to the end of second point to secure their 3-0 victory.

They walk out for their attack on the same composition, but with Zarya instead of Hazard. Bernar uses his Photon Barriers on himself and pushes very aggressively, as the ZETA DPS work independently on the flanks. They take all of the space necessary to crush Old Ocean’s setup, and take the point in dominant fashion.

From here, it’s the Pelican and AlphaYi show. The DPS duo continue to carve through Old Ocean with little resistance, and ZETA DIVISION shake off any doubts that may have arisen in their 3-2 win over Cheeseburger earlier this week.

Score: 2-1 ZETA Division

FINAL SCORE: ZETA DIVISION 3-0 Old Ocean

Crazy Raccoon vs. WAE

Lijiang Tower

(Selected by Crazy Raccoon)

Bans: Echo (WAE), Kiriko (Crazy Raccoon)

For the third Lijiang Tower match of the day, both teams roll out on Night Market on pretty familiar compositions; Wrecking Ball, Tracer, Genji and Wuyang for both teams, with WAE playing the Lucio and Crazy Raccoon putting Kim "Shu" Jin-seo on his signature Ana.

It doesn’t take Shu long to find impact on Ana, sleeping Lee "LeeSooMin" Soo-Min and securing the kill with the Biotic Grenade. Meanwhile, An “SP1NT” Woo-jin continues the electric start to his Crazy Raccoon career by getting the better of Park "SeonJun" Seon-jun in the Genji duel. Shu finds a cheeky angle to hit another Biotic Grenade onto Lee "Mealgaru" Jeong-hwan, and Crazy Raccoon take the first capture. Seonjun claps back with an entry pick onto Sung “CHoRoNG” Yoo-min, but SP1NT equalises with trades of his own. Seonjun pulls his Dragonblade to try and make a hero play, but SP1NT was quicker on the draw and eliminates Seonjun before he can cut into any of Crazy Raccoon.

Towards the end of the map, Park “Junbin” Jun-bin attempts to trade Minefields with Mealgaru on the point, but seemingly fails to notice that his Piledriver is on cooldown, and explodes comically. Unfortunately for WAE, Lee "Ade" Ji-hwan also falls victim to this Minefield-based mind control and trades himself on Junbin’s mines, allowing Crazy Raccoon to secure the win.

Control Center starts off well for WAE, with Mealgaru picking off Shu instantaneously. However, in true Shu fashion, he still finds impact by sleeping Mealgaru on his walk back from spawn, allowing Crazy Raccoon to kill him and take the next fight with a tank advantage. Following this, Crazy Raccoon start to take control, with Shu pulling off his usual miracles and the DPS of Crazy Raccoon getting the better of their opposites on WAE. Mealgaru has several carry moments, securing some momentary point captures for his team, but WAE can’t string two fight wins together, and Crazy Raccoon take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Score: 2-0 Crazy Raccoon

New Queen Street

(Selected by WAE)

Bans: Soldier: 76 (Crazy Raccoon), Kiriko (WAE)

Junbin attempts to play Winston to begin the game, while Mealgaru rolls out on Wrecking Ball. Both teams are playing Genji, Tracer and Wuyang, with LeeSooMin playing Lucio and Shu playing Ana.

The Winston does not pay dividends for Crazy Raccoon, and Junbin finds himself in a lot of trouble early on, being knocked around by Mealgaru’s Wrecking Ball and dying instantly. He then swaps his own Wrecking Ball, but this early pick allows WAE to take lots of space and push the robot to the first checkpoint. Shu struggles to live in the early stages of this game, allowing WAE to keep pushing forward with Crazy Raccoon down their main source of healing.

Once again, though, SP1NT is the x-factor for Crazy Raccoon, and finds the kills that allow Crazy Raccoon to get their first metres on the board. From here, the snowball begins to grow; LeeSooMin only finds two teammates with his Sound Barrier, and Crazy Raccoon win another fight in a row. SP1NT continues to dominate, receiving both of the support ultimates to facilitate his deconstruction of the WAE backline. Chae “HeeSang” Hee-sang, SP1NT and Junbin are making life extremely difficult for WAE, and once the momentum was on their side, they couldn’t be stopped. Crazy Raccoon come from behind to take a 2-0 lead.

Score: 128.11-64.37 Crazy Raccoon

Aatlis

(Selected by WAE)

Bans: Tracer (WAE), Hazard (Crazy Raccoon)

Crazy Raccoon are utilising Reaper alongside their preferred comp of Wrecking Ball, Genji, Wuyang and Ana when Tracer is banned. WAE are playing Venture instead, and playing Kiriko with their Wuyang in place of Ana.

WAE take early point control and stay there for a slow first couple of fights, but when they unsuccessfully invest their ultimates to try and take down Shu, the advantage swings in Crazy Raccoon’s favour. The Tidal Blast from CH0R0NG saves Shu’s life, and he can then continue his series-long masterclass. He deploys the nano boost onto SP1NT, which tears through the rest of WAE.

There are signs of life for WAE on point 2, with their DPS winning their duels. This allows them to secure the point and finally secure a rare kill on Shu. They stay in control and survive the pressure from Crazy Raccoon, and get a point on the board. Things seem positive going into point 3, with Junbin going down uncharacteristically early, and WAE taking the advantage. However, HeeSang’s Reaper teleports to high ground and as three members of WAE dive him, his double pocket from both supports allows him to claim four kills. From there, Crazy Raccoon leverages this cheap fight win to capture the point.

Crazy Raccoon kicks off point 4 with a Tidal Blast onto SP1NT, who kills two members of WAE before the fight even starts. Junbin makes no further errors, allowing his team to stay in control of point 4 and use their ultimate advantage to stay one step ahead of WAE and take the map 3-1.

Crazy Raccoon looks incredibly strong in this meta, as they sweep a strong WAE team.

Score: 3-1 Crazy Raccoon

FINAL SCORE: Crazy Raccoon 3-0 WAE
