Week 3 Korea preview | T1 and ZETA look to continue unbeaten runs

by Finn “Fiñata” MacCarthy

Another big week in Korea as the top and bottom halves of the table have begun to filter themselves out. Check out last week's action in every detail for a quick catch-up. With top of the table clashes spread out evenly amongst this week's schedule, there will be plenty of action to get through. Can Team Falcons overcome WAE, who have become something of a litmus test for top teams in Korea? Will T1 establish itself as the premier dive team in the region by securing wins in both games this week? The action starts again Friday, 12th Sept.

Korea Week 3 - Day 1 (September 12, 2025)

WAE vs. Team Falcons

The next best-looking match on this week's calendar. Falcons have been struggling against top-level opposition this stage, and WAE will be a good test to see if they still have what it takes. WAE seem more willing to run double flex DPS, a comp we’ve seen Falcons struggle on against Crazy Raccoon and ZETA Division. A lot of the weight will be on Lee "Ade" Ji-hwan, who has been WAE’s premier flex DPS player so far, it remains to be seen as to whether he can take it to the likes of Kim “Proper” Dong-hyun and Choi “MER1T” Tae-min.

Old Ocean vs. Mir Gaming

A fairly even matchup towards the bottom of the OWCS Korea table. Bright spots Go “D4RT” Min-hyuk and Kim “Becky” Il-ha are expected to be the difference makers for Old Ocean in what could be an instrumental match in deciding who stays in OWCS and who gets relegated.

ONSIDE GAMING vs. T1

ONSIDE have had some good moments this stage, but have struggled to overcome the truly elite teams in the region. With the form T1 are in, it is unlikely that ONSIDE will trouble them here. T1 are expected to continue their perfect stage so far.

Korea Week 3 - Day 2 (September 13, 2025)

Mir Gaming vs. Team Falcons

Team Falcons will be expected to roll through a winless Mir Gaming - the newly promoted team is outclassed by the Falcons roster in what should be a straightforward affair for the Midseason Champions.

Game of the week: Crazy Raccoon vs. ZETA DIVISION

Say what you will about ZETA DIVISION’s run as an organisation in Overwatch, but what is undeniable is their penchant for producing some of the most exciting matches of the OWCS Era, regardless of meta, roster or opponent. This match is shaping up to be no different.

ZETA are in a very good run of form so far this stage, currently holding an undefeated 4-0 record, defeating Team Falcons in the process. Their DPS line of Oh “Pelican” Se-hyun and Kim “AlphaYi” Jun is one of the best in the region when it comes to the current double flex DPS meta, and their backline has adapted well to Wuyang’s arrival. Shin “Bernar” Se-won, as always, looks incredibly strong in any kind of ground tank based composition or map. His mastery of off-tank heroes is almost unmatched within the region. Kim “Mag” Tae-sun, who was a bit of an unknown quantity after a disappointing couple of stages in EMEA, has really found his feet in this meta that favours his signature Wrecking Ball.

Crazy Raccoon, on the other hand, are coming into this match following a shocking 3-0 defeat at the hands of T1. At the beginning of the stage, many fans thought they would be a near-untouchable frontrunner in this dive-oriented meta, just like they have been in the past. However, T1 mercilessly dismantled them, looking like the far superior team throughout.

Crazy Raccoon will be looking to get back on track by defeating ZETA this week, attempting to prove that the T1 result was nothing more than a blip. Though they will have to do it without Lee “LIP” Jae-won, as he remains on brea. An “SP1NT” Woo-jin continues to fill in his place.

In any case, there is a lot on the line for both teams, and their recent form should make for a very exciting match between them.

Old Ocean vs. Cheeseburger

Another scrap that could have serious implications in the relegation battle, Old Ocean take on Cheeseburger in a game that’s expected to be close. Cheeseburger have cooled since their opening day 5-mapper against ZETA DIVISION, but have their most even matchup so far against Old Ocean. Both teams will look to claim their first win in Stage 3.

Korea Week 3 - Day 3 (September 14, 2025)

ZETA DIVISION vs. ONSIDE GAMING

Kim "Kellan" Min-jae has been a bright spot for ONSIDE and matches up well in this meta. The quality of Pelican and AlphaYi should be the main difference maker for ZETA, whereas ONSIDE will be hoping Lee "KNIFE" Seon-woo can find better form to help close the gap. With the form ZETA are in, it could be a rough game for ONSIDE.

Cheeseburger vs. Crazy Raccoon

Crazy Raccoon are expected to dominate Cheeseburger - last week's stumble against T1 shouldn’t be enough to derail the Racoons as the gulf in class should prove significant.

T1 vs. WAE

WAE are expected to square up to T1 in the dive mirror - WAE are a good team in their own right, but they were blown out of the water in this type of match-up against Crazy Raccoon earlier in the stage. It’s more than likely that they don’t have what it takes to match top-of-the-region T1.
